Anemia is a condition that rises due to deficiency of hemoglobin or RBC in the blood. Mainly anemia is a deficiency of iron in the blood. The function of RBC is to deliver oxygen to every part of the body. We cannot imagine life without Oxygen.

There are many other causes of anemia, such as a disease of the liver, kidney or heart, some medicine and blood flow.

The normal range of hemoglobin:

For men: 13.5 to 17.5 g/dl
For women: 12.0 to 15.5 g/dl.

In India recent global Nutrition report shows that 51% of women age 15 to 49 are anemic. The possibility of anemia in women is more likely than men. There are many reasons such as menstruation, increased requirement of blood in the body during pregnancy and nutritional deficiency.


Symptoms

Most common symptom of all type of anemia is Feeling fatigue, lack of energy, increased dark circles, dizziness while standing or sitting, hair loss, shortness of breath, headache, paleness on face. In mild case, there may be few or more symptoms.

§  Aplastic anemia: fever, frequent infections, and skin rashes
§  Folic acid deficiency anemia: irritability, diarrhea, and a smooth tongue
§  Hemolytic anemia: fever , dark colored urine, jaundice, and abdominal pains
§  Sickle cell anemia: painful swelling of the feet and hands, fatigue, and jaundice

There are several ways to treat anemia naturally-

Beetroot

§  Take a glass of beetroot juice daily. Include beetroot in your daily diet as in salad. One who gets cold early in the winter season can also make beetroot, carrot and tomato soup.
§  Take a glass of (beetroot and apple juice in equal parts) juice with some honey in morning.



Beetroot is loaded with the goodness of iron, minerals and vitamins. Beetroot helps in repairing and reactivating RBCs, which increases oxygen supply in all parts of the body.


Spinach

Spinach can be consumed in various form like soups, curies etc. Spinach can also be used by boiling and kneading the flour with its water.

Spinach is a green leafy vegetable that is rich in iron and various other nutrients. Spinach also contains vitamin k, fiver, phosphorus and thiamine.


Raisin

§  Soak a handful of raisins in water for overnight, after brushing in the morning, eat raisins and drink its water too.

§  Put roasted gram and raisins or jaggery(गुड़) in an air tight container. Take a handful of this mixture and eat it in the morning. These both are very helpful for anemia.

Raisin contains good amount of iron, copper and vitamins which are very helpful in making RBC. Raisin is full of natural sugar which is great energy booster.


Pomegranate

§  Take a glass of pomegranate juice daily to raise the hemoglobin.

§  Eating one bowl of pomegranate daily helps to reduce iron deficiency.

Pomegranate is highly recommended for anemia because it is reach in vitamin c. It is also rich in vitamin k, vitamin E, fiber, potassium and protein.   

Sesame seeds (काला तिल)

Natural Remedies of Anemia

Soak the sesame seeds in some water overnight then grind them into a paste. Taking this paste with teaspoon of honey everyday provides great relief in anemia.



Note:

§  Vitamin C enhances the iron absorption capacity in human body. So it is advisable to take citrus fruits (खट्टे फल) with it.
§  In severe form of anemia you should take proper medication. Iron supplement should be taken as per doctor's advice.
